Nominal value (dignity) - the initial value of the price, the nominal value indicated on the banknote. Banknotes issued by the National Bank of the Republic of Abkhazia (Bank of Abkhazia) are called “Apsar.”

Issued banknotes are a means of payment at their nominal value, which has a solid equivalent in Russian rubles: 1 apsar is equal to 10 rubles of the Russian Federation. Moreover, banknotes cannot be used as a means of payment in the retail system.

The price of banknotes at the initial issue is determined by their face value.

The price of banknotes in the secondary market is set freely.

Bank of Abkhazia and credit organizations, without charge and without limiting the amount, carry out operations to exchange banknotes of the Bank of Abkhazia for Russian rubles and other currencies with legal entities and individuals with whom they conduct banking operations in accordance with the legislation of the Republic faces of Abkhazia.

The main image of the front side of the banknote is a portrait of the First President of the Republic of Abkhazia V. G. Ardzinba, under which is the inscription "Vladislav Ardzinba". In the background are depicted warriors of the Abkhazian Armed Forces raising the banner of Victory. Images are superimposed on a traditional Abkhazian ornament. From left to right in a semicircle there are seven stars from the state flag of the Republic of Abkhazia. In the lower left corner there is the state emblem. The face value of “500 psar” is indicated in two vertical lines in the left corner.

The main image of the back of the banknote is a map of the Republic of Abkhazia, as well as a silhouette of the architectural complex of the capital of Abkhazia, Sukhum, enclosed in a decorative rim, against the background of a symbolic fortress tower with state emblem of the Republic of Abkhazia. On the circumference of the rim there is an inscription in the Abkhaz language «Нагӡара ақәзааит Аԥсынра». Under the image there is the number "500". The background of the composition is a traditional ornament. On the reverse side, the image of seven stars is duplicated, as well as the name of the face value in the right corner - 500 psar.

The banknote has two serial numbers located on the back of the banknote and having a two-letter designation of the series and nine digits of the number. The left number has readability on the long side of the banknote, the right one on the short side.

At the bottom right of the back of the banknote there is a QR -code containing a link to the page of the Bank of Abkhazia website with a description of the banknote's security features.
